Swiss watchmaker Breitling has been in a partnership with Bentley since 2003, and to mark the launch of the 2017 Continental Supersports, it has unveiled a special-edition chronograph.
With the production line limited to just 500 units, the chronograph, called Bentley Supersports B55, gets a titanium case, carbon-fibre dial and a double-layer, red-edged black rubber strap. Moreover, as you would expect, it’s enriched with functions for the Bentley drivers.
Along with the flyback chronograph, lap timer and electronic tachymeter, the B55 “Racing” calibre provides three different features. First, there’s “Chrono Rally” that can record up to 30 stages, complete with the departure date of the rally, the start time and duration of each stage. Second, you have “Chrono Race”, designed to record lap-times around a track. And third, you have the “Regularity Rally” function that gives the possibility of predefining target times or intermediate times out of a total time, and then checking whether one has met those goals. The Bentley Supersports B55 also gets smartphone integration as well, with a special app that can be used to store or transmit data.
The Continental Supersports was announced earlier this month and is powered by Bentley’s 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine. The power and torque are rated at 700 HP and 1017 Nm respectively, enough for a sprint to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and top speed of 336 km/h. It gets lightweight wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust system and several other modifications to both the exterior and interior, lending it ample dash of technology inside.
