Apple Watch Series 4 was announced on September 12 and it is finally up for pre-orders in India. The smartwatch can be pre-ordered from Flipkart, Jio.com, Paytm Mall and all Apple Authorised retailers. The device is also listed on Airtel Online Store, but is yet to go up for pre-orders and as of writing this article and is already out-of-stock on Flipkart. The new Watch comes in 40mm and 44mm display sizes, a redesigned edge-to-edge display and a new digital crown, which is said to be more accurate as compared with its predecessor. It also comes with ECG monitoring capabilities, however, the feature is limited to the US only. The Apple Watch Series 4 comes in two variants, one with GPS and another one with both GPS and Cellular.
The Apple Watch Series 4 will go on sale in India on October 19 and will be up for pre-orders till then. The 44mm GPS + Cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 4 is priced at Rs 52,900, while the 40mm GPS + Cellular model is priced at Rs 49,900. The 44mm GPS only version of the Apple Watch Series 4 will cost Rs 43,900 and the 40mm GPS model costs Rs 40,900. The Apple Watch Series 4 GPS and Cellular edition models come in Space Grey, Silver, and Gold aluminium case options.
There are other variants of the Apple Watch Series 4 which are currently listed on Paytm Mall only. The Apple Watch Series 4 also comes in a Nike+ edition, which is priced at Rs 52,900, along with a 40mm stainless steel option with a Sport Band that costs Rs 67,900. The stainless steel version, when purchased with a Milanese Loop wristband, will cost you Rs 76,900. When buying the 44mm stainless steel variant of the Apple Watch Series 4 with a Sport Band, one will have to shell out Rs 71,900. Additionally, the same variant when purchased with a Milanese Loop wristband will go on sale at Rs 80,900. The Stainless Steel case Apple Watch Series 4 GPS and Cellular edition models come in Space Grey, Silver, and Gold aluminium case options.
The Apple Watch Series 4 is powered by a 64-bit dual-core S4 processor, which is said to deliver twice the performance over the one used in the Apple Watch Series 3. It comes with a second-generation optical heart rate sensor and the digital crown gets refined haptic feedback. There’s also a new fall detection feature that makes use of the improved accelerometer and gyroscope. However, the feature is turned on automatically only when the age fed into the Apple Watch manually or via the Health app is over 65.
The watch features a louder speaker and the microphone is moved to the opposite side of the watch, allowing for clearer conversations. There are also a host of new watch faces, including the breath app, which is also now a watch face. It runs on WatchOS 5 and connects over Bluetooth 5.0.
