Apple Watch devotees, rejoice! It’s that time of year again when rumours about the next big smartwatch upgrade start swirling. This year, the Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to bring some exciting changes. I am not talking about a complete overhaul here, but there are three key areas that might get a refresh according to a recent report.

One of the most noticeable changes in the Watch Series 10 is expected to be the introduction of larger displays, according to a report by Bloomberg. Both versions of the Series 10, codenamed N217 and N218, could offer screens that rival the size of the current Apple Watch Ultra. Watch Series 10 is also expected to feature a sleeker design. Despite these enhancements, the overall design is expected to remain largely unchanged.
Under the hood, the Series 10 and the anticipated Ultra 3 will likely feature upgraded chips, hinting at potential future AI capabilities. However, contrary to hopes, the Apple Intelligence suite is expected to initially roll out exclusively on iPhone, iPad, and Mac platforms. There are future plans to extend this to the Vision Pro but no current roadmap for the Apple Watch, according to the report.

Meanwhile, long-awaited health features like blood pressure monitoring and detecting sleep apnea seem to face delays due to technical challenges. As per the report, Apple’s efforts to accurately measure hypertension have encountered reliability issues, potentially postponing their release beyond this year.
Looking ahead, Apple is eyeing significant manufacturing advancements, exploring 3D-printed chassis for streamlined production and environmental benefits. Additionally, a revamped Apple Watch SE model is in the works, possibly swapping aluminium for cost-effective rigid plastic to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Watch FE, priced at $199.
