Apple Watch SE could feature kid-friendly plastic design and new colours
Apple is reportedly using plastic to make the Watch SE “more kid-friendly."
This could open the door to a wider range of colours.
The current Apple Watch lineup, while stylish, has largely stuck to a muted colour palette.
Apple has long been known for its sleek and sophisticated smartwatch designs, consistently offering subtle updates with each new iteration. While the annual refresh of the Apple Watch has become somewhat predictable, a new report hints at a potential game-changer for the Apple Watch SE.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant is using plastic for its Watch SE to make it “more kid-friendly.” He also mentioned that this could open the door to a wider range of colours (via the Verge).

The current Apple Watch lineup, while stylish, has largely stuck to a muted colour palette. Choices like black, silver, and shades of pink have been the norm, with only Product Red breaking away from the understated theme. If the latest report is true, the new plastic Apple Watch SE could bring a refreshing change by incorporating brighter, more playful colours. This shift could be reminiscent of the colourful updates seen in other Apple products, such as the iMac and the iPhone, which have delighted users with their vibrant hues.

Although the Watch SE is a more budget-friendly option compared to the high-end Series models, it lacks some of the advanced features that come with the pricier versions. These include the faster on-device Siri and the innovative double-tap gesture found in the Series 9.
However, if the new Watch SE manages to combine these sought-after features with the exciting addition of bold colours, it could become a highly appealing choice for those looking for a stylish yet affordable smartwatch.
In my opinion, this potential update could be a smart move for Apple. By making the Apple Watch SE more kid-friendly with a plastic design and a broader colour selection, Apple could attract a younger demographic and offer a fresh option for those who find the current colour choices too bland.
