Not much has been reported about the next-generation of Apple Watch but now, a listing on the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECC) has confirmed two things about the upcoming Apple Watch 4. Firstly, Apple may come out with a completely re-designed Watch this year. This seems legit because famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claimed that this year, the iPhone-maker will introduce larger displays and the new Apple Watches will have 1.57-inch and 1.78-inch screens.
The second major thing that we learn from the ECC filing is that Apple will launch six models of the Apple Watch 4 as it registered watches with model numbers A1977, A1978, A1975, A1976, A2007, and A2008. The listing also shows that the Apple Watch Series 4 line-up will ship with watchOS 5 which was unveiled at Apple’s annual WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June. If we go by the filings, Apple seems to be thinning down its watch lineup. Last year, Apple launched eight models of the Apple Watch 3.
Apple generally registers a hardware device a few weeks ahead of it launch. Unfortunately, the listing did not give any information about the specifications of the upcoming smartwatch from Apple, but previous reports have claimed a lot about the features that the Apple Watch 4 is expected to have. Apple is likely to replace the physical side button on the Apple Watch this time with a solid-state button that would not move up and down but rather be touch-sensitive.
Apart from this, the wearable is also tipped to come with enhanced heart rate detection. Last month, Apple posted a job opening seeking professionals with engineering background who can develop a health, wellness and fitness sensor that can process biometric data. Even Kuo suggested that the Apple Watch 4 will have a ‘more trendy form factor design’ and new sensors beyond heart rate monitoring offered at competitive prices.
