Apple has announced that the release of much awaited watchOS 2 has been delayed due to a bug and it will be released “shortly.” The company said that it is taking longer than expected to fix the bug. The watchOS 2 was earlier announced to be released on September 16 along with iOS 9.
Apple has not revealed details of the bug but since the release has been delayed, it seems to be affecting the performance of the OS in some serious way. The update is said to be the first major update for the Apple Watch and it will bring a variety of new features to the users. The new watchOS 2 will bring support for native third-party apps enabling them to run faster. At the moment, apps communicate with the iPhone for all the processing and fetching the data but with the new update, it will happen directly on the watch. There are also a number of watch faces for users to choose from. Moving on from the end consumer, the updated OS will also bring different features for developers like the ability to access sensors directly. It would help the developers to make their apps more productive and useful. Incidentally, iOS 9 update is available to download but reportedly, several users are facing issue while updating the device. The users are seeing the message "Software Update Failed" during the update. It seems to be an issue with servers of Apple, but the real reason is not confirmed yet. One can try to update his device to see if it is working now. iOS 9 is compatible with the following devices – iPhone 4S and higher, iPad 2 and higher, iPad mini 2 and higher, and iPod touch 5G and higher.
This is not the first time that there is a delay in the release of the Apple products and services this year. Earlier, Apple had limited the availability of the Apple Watch due to a defective component supplied by a Chinese company. Recently, it was also reported that the newly launched iPhone 6S is also facing supply shortage. It was due to production issue with its backlight module at the Japanese supplier Minebea. The company will reportedly transferred the orders to Radiant to tackle the issue because of its proven track record for supplying the backlight modules for the iPad mini.
