Android Wear encryption bug blocking paid apps

Android Wear encryption bug blocking paid apps
HIGHLIGHTS

The bug is most likely in Google's encryption system that is aimed at preventing privacy.

Google’s Android Wear operating system seems to be giving newly launched wearables some trouble. According to a report by Android Police, the wearable component of paid apps on Google Play aren’t transferring from smartphones to wearables. Apps on Android Wear are installed from Google Play, with components for both a wearable device (like the LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live) and their associated smartphones.

The Android Police report states that the problem is with the app encrpytion system that Google employs in Android Wear. This system acts as somewhat of a copy-protection mechanism, which has been enforced in order to curb piracy on the new platform.

With the bug reported, Google shouldn’t take much time to fix it, so if you have an Android Wear-run device then expect an update soon. Android Wear was launched at the company's annual I/O Conference recently, presenting a whole new platform, meant only for wearable devices. Being new, the platform is expected to have some bugs like this and users shouldn't be worried about the current bug.

Currently, there are three devices that run the Android Wear platform. These include the LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live and the Moto 360. While the LG product was made available on Google Play almost immediately after Android Wear was launched, the Samsung device is also available now. Motorola's smartwatch though is expected to be available in the near future.
