The new wearable will track heart rate, stamina, stress, fatigue, and even exposure to ultraviolet rays

The next@acer event in New York saw the launch of Leap Ware, a smartwatch that is packed with features that promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The watch has a circular 1.6-inch display and built-in sensors that track a whole range of parameters including heart rate, stamina, stress/fatigue, and even exposure to ultraviolet rays.

The Leap Ware fitness-tracking smartwatch works in tandem with the Acer’s Liquid Life app (for both Android and iOS) motivates users by gamifying fitness, encouraging competition and offering rewards for achievements through the Liquid Life Market. Users can meet predefined goals to earn Power Coins which can be redeemed for discounts and other rewards. Once paired with the app, users can view a multitude of information on the watch screen such as who is calling or texting etc.

“The new Acer Leap Ware is designed to act as a virtual coach to help people go, track, and share, sending them reminders and alerts when they need them the most,” said MH Wang, General Manager, Smart Device Products, at Acer.

The Leap Ware smartwatch houses a MediaTek MT2523 chipset and a MT2511 bio-sensing chip within a polished stainless steel circular frame. The company aims to go for a simple and minimalistic design language with the device. The Leap Ware smartwatch claims a rated battery life of 3 to 5 days.

The watch relies on Corning’s Gorilla Glass SR+ to reduce visible scratches and everyday wear and tear. Furthermore, the Acer Leap Ware has an IPX7 3 water resistance rating which means it can easily withstand an unexpected downpour on your morning run or trek.

It has interchangeable bands which come in two colours – Navy Blue and Light Brown. However, it is also compatible with any 20mm watch band, so users can customise as per their taste.

There is no word on Indian availability or price in rupees, however, the Acer Leap Ware is slated to hit North America in July with prices starting at $139 (that’s Rs. 8,915 direct conversion).
