Toshiba has announced 7 new TVs in its portfolio that will be available starting September 18. The TVs will be available on Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Tata CliQ. The TVs start from Rs 12,990 for the 32-inch variant and go up to Rs 66,990 for the 65-inch variant. The TVs are designed in Japan and made in India.
Speaking at the launch, Rishi Tandon, COO, Toshiba Televisions India said, “We are extremely thrilled to announce 7 new models of the Made in India televisions starting from 18th September onwards. As a global reputed brand, we always believe in keeping customer needs as our prime focus, hence, we bring a special inaugural offer of a 4-year warranty on the 4k panels from 18th-21st September. Our televisions provide not only an immersive viewing and audio experience with the powerful combination of Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos, but they also include features like Full Array Local Dimming, VIDAA OS and a Premium Design that bring a complete cinematic experience at your home.”
The Toshiba L5050 is available in 32 and 43-inch screen sizes and brings with it an ADS Panel. The 32-inch TV is an HD ready TV while the 43-inch is a full HD TV. The TVs claim to have a “CEVO Engine Premium” to optimize the colour reproduction and sharpness of the image. The 43-inch TV has 24W of sound output while the 32-inch TV has 20W of sound output. Both support Dolby Audio. The TVs bring with them 2 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports for your connectivity needs.
Next up, we have the U5050 series available in 43, 50 and 55-inches, bringing with them support for 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The U5050 series boasts of “Color Re-master technology that restores the original, natural colour of the image.” The 43-inch TV has 24W of sound output while the 50 and 55-inch have 30W of sound output. The TVs come with 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports for your connectivity needs.
Next up, we have the U7980 series that has 55 and 65-inch screen sizes. These 4K TVs bring with them support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and also have Full Array Local Dimming. The TVs boast of peak brightness of 700 nits and also support a wide colour gamut. The TVs bring with them 24W of sound output and have 4 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports for your connectivity needs.
Unlike most smart TVs the Toshiba TVs do not run on Android. They run on VIDAA OS. According to Toshiba, “VIDAA is an operating system that has been designed specifically for TVs and hence is fully optimized for the best Smart feature experience. It’s Fast, Simple and Customizable as compared to other mobile-based TV operating systems”.
The TVs remote control brings with it hotkeys for streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video. In VIDAA OS, the home screen is a banner where each menu is accessible in very few steps. The interface is fully customizable and flexible. The TV also has the Toshiba App store housing a variety of Indian and international apps like Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Hungama, Yupp TV, and many more.
Toshiba says, “as a part of regular software upgrades and new app additions, VIDAA continues to on-board various leading apps and OTT providers in India”. The Toshiba 4K TVs also come with Alexa built-in as well. The TVs also support screen mirroring and Bluetooth Audio out.
The HD ready Toshiba 32L5050 (32-inch) is priced at Rs 12,990 while the Full HD Toshiba 43L5050 (43-inch) is priced at Rs 22,490.
The 4K TV line-up which starts with the 43U5050 (43-inch) is priced at Rs 27,990, the 50U5050 (50-inch) is priced at Rs 32990 and the Toshiba 55U5050 (55-inch) TV is priced at Rs 36,990.
The top of the line 55U7980 (55-inch) and 65U7980 (65-inch) TVs boasting of Full-array local dimming, 700 nits of brightness are priced at Rs 46,990 and Rs 66,990, respectively.
All the TVs will be available from 18th September on Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Tata CliQ.
