Sony details content device & free movies for 4K Ultra HD TV

At the time of the launch, Sony had informed us that there will a 4K capable video player that will be bundled with the Sony XBR-84X900 Ultra HD TV. Now, the details of that package are emerging. The television already has a 4K HD projector and a 4K Blu-ray player for company, in Sony’s portfolio of future-ready products.

The video player will output video content to match the resolution of the TV, and the built-in drive will be packed with free content, at least for the first wave of buyers. According to Sony, 10 native 4K HD films will be preloaded on the device, and the list of the movies is:

  • The Amazing Spiderman
  • Total Recall (2012)
  • The Karate Kid (2010)
  • Salt
  • Battle Los Angeles
  • The Other Guys
  • Bad Teacher
  • That's My Boy
  • Taxi Driver
  • The Bridge on the River Kwai

"Sony is committed to delivering the finest 4K Ultra HD entertainment experiences to customers," added Mike Lucas, senior vice president for Sony Electronics' Home Division. "The launch of the 4K Ultra HD Home Experience is another world first for Sony, and will wow consumers with 4K Ultra HD content. It's a proof point of our leadership in all things 4K, and the first step in creating a full, complete 4K Ultra HD solution for the home."

Just to remind you, 4K devices have a resolution of 3480 x 2160 pixels, as compared to 1920 x 1080 pixels that we currently call Full HD. This mammoth 84-inch Sony XBR-84X900 Ultra HD TV television costs Rs. 16,99,900 in the Indian market, and will be available at select Sony Experience Stores.
