Samsung launches Tizen powered SUHD Curved TVs in India

Samsung launches Tizen powered SUHD Curved TVs in India
HIGHLIGHTS

Samsung's new Curved SUHD TVs were originally announced at the CES 2015. They run on the company's failed mobile OS, Tizen.

The recently unveiled SUHD TV series by Samsung has been launched in India. The company, which had unveiled these TVs back at the CES 2015 event in Las Vegas, has now brought the 55 and 65 inch curved SUHD TVs to the Indian market. Samsung has priced the televisions at Rs. 3,14,900 and Rs. 4,40,900 respectively. Another interesting aspect of Samsung’s televisions is that they run on the company’s own Tizen OS.

According to Samsung, the nano-crystal technology used in these TVs will allow viewers to see upto 64 times more colour expression on these televisions, as compared to conventional TVs. They are also supposed to offer 2.5 times brighter images and 10 times better contrast. These will compete against similar TVs launched by LG and other competitors.

Speaking of which, the two South Korean competitors, LG and Samsung, seem to be taking similar paths with the choice of OS for their televisions. While Samsung chose Tizen for its SUHD TVs, LG’s recently launched UHD televisions run on WebOS. What’s common among these two platforms is that both were originally meant to be mobile operating systems.

We recently reviewed the 55 inch LG Super UHD 4K Cinema 3D TV, and one of the best things about it was the WebOS platform, which runs fluidly on the TV. You can read that review here.

Sophisticated and Improved Curved Designs
When Samsung introduced the curved form-factor in 2013, it dramatically enhanced the home entertainment experience for consumers. Taking cues from contemporary art and architecture, Samsung’s SUHD TV has been designed and enhanced with many modern and minimalist highlights. Samsung SUHD TV will feature Samsung’s Chamfer bezel design, adding more depth to the TV screen, and the elegant frame makes the TV look like a piece of art when mounted on the wall. SUHD TV has a soft, textured Shirring design on the back, ensuring the TV maintains its stylish edge from any angle.
