Lately, Realme has been expanding its product portfolio in India and China. The company already sells mobile phones, accessories, power banks and earphones. Now, it is rumoured that Realme could be exploring various possibilities to enter the TV market with its smart TVs. It is said to compete with home-grown rival Xiaomi that sells Mi TVs, which dominates the budget smart TV market in India. Realme has also teased the launch of its IoT devices later this year and the smart TVs are expected to be launched around that time only.
The latest development comes from CMO Xu Qi Chase who revealed at the launch of Realme X50 5G that the company will launch its TV category in 2020. However, Realme was rumoured to launch its first smart TV by the end of 2019, but that didn’t happen. The Realme TVs are expected to offer similar features as Xiaomi’s Mi TV range.
Realme is tipped to launch various TVs with different specifications. It is likely to run Android TV to deliver a full-fledged smart TV experience along with a wide-enough app support. For reference, Xiaomi recently launched the Mi TV 5 series in China which offers features like QLED panel, latest hardware and affordable pricing. Also, the Mi 5 Pro features a Quantum Dot display that comes with 8K video support.
Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has also teased to bring a range of connected devices. The company is also rumoured to launch a fitness band. Recently, Realme also forayed into the wireless earphones category with the launch of Realme Buds Air. The company also launched its first 5G smartphone, Realme X50 5G this week.
