This is specially made for smart TVs and displays. Not only this, it also unveiled the MediaTek Kompanio 838 chipset designed for Chromebooks. Let’s see what they offer.

MediaTek’s latest, the Pentonic 800 chipset, which succeeds the Pentonic 700, aims to offer a more enhanced TV viewing experience. It offers a great upgrade for smart TVs, smart monitors, and large commercial displays. It features a quad-core CPU with Arm Cortex-A73 cores, clocked at up to 1.8GHz, along with the Arm Mali-G57 MC1 GPU. It supports up to 64-bit DDR4 3200Mbps RAM. It also integrates an advanced AI processor.\

With the integration of AI, you get both enhanced performance and picture quality. It even ensures noise reduction, SDR-to-HDR upscaling, and gaming optimization. You even get to see Dolby DAP with Atmos, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, and DTS: Virtual X support.

It is compatible with HEVC, AV1, AVS3 High Profile, and VVC (H.266), and Wi-Fi 6, 6E, or 7.

MediaTek Kompanio 838 Chipset for Chromebooks

In addition to the Pentonic 800 chip, the company also announced the MediaTek Kompanio 838 chipset. This is specially built for Chromebooks. It focuses on performance and has a 6nm octa-core processor. On the CPU front, you get two high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6GHz and six efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It also has an Arm Mali-G57 MC3 GPU plus a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of handling four trillion operations per second (TOPS).

It offers support of up to 64-bit LPDDR4X 3200MTs RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. With this chip, you get improved power efficiency and all-day battery life. It also provides 4K display support and can output to 4K smart TVs or monitors.
