The company says that there are going to be new energy modes.
Last night, during its annual I/O, Google made some major announcements. One of these was that the search engine giant finally announced that Android 14 is finally making its way towards Android TV as well as Google TV. Currently, it is running on Android 12 which is close to three years old, and this change was long due. So going forward, Android TVs will run on a relatively newer OS. Let’s find out all the details about this.
Android 14 for TVs
Google announced that Android 14 will make its way to TV. In addition to this, it will also bring along some new features and even accessibility features. The tech giant revealed that Android 14 for TVs is “snappier and more responsive”. Most users still face stuttering or freezing issues with TVs, so hopefully that goes with this update.
New features coming for TVs
Finally, we are also getting picture-in-picture support with Android 14 for TV. It will obviously mostly work for qualified Android 14 TV models. What we think is that when this feature goes live, users will be able to continue watching content even when they are scrolling through the home screen or the app. Something similar to what we see on YouTube.
The company also says that there are going to be new energy modes. We have seen three different energy-saving modes so far, these include Low energy mode, Optimised energy mode, and Increased energy mode.
In addition to this, the company has also added a few accessibility features. This includes colour correction, enhanced text options, and improved navigation.
AI has made its way to TVs
During the I/O, Google also informed us that AI is making its way to TVs now. It said that Gemini will power the AI-generated content descriptions that we get to see on the home screen.
