HIGHLIGHTS

The offer is valid only if the recharge is done using the My Vodafone or My Idea app.

This is an incentive to recharge the number of a loved one or someone in need.

Users can use third party recharge solutions to help others.

If you are a Vodafone Idea customer and would like to help recharge someone's number, then there is an incentive for you. If you recharge a Vodafone Idea number using the My Vodafone app or the My Idea app, then you can get a cashback up to 6 percent. This is under the Vodafone Idea #RechargeforGood initiative.

"The program enables every Vodafone and Idea customer to recharge for a friend, family or anyone who doesn't know how to recharge online or doesn't have access to the internet. This good deed will be rewarded with a cashback of up to 6 percent on recharges done by an existing Vodafone or Idea customer for someone else through MyVodafone App or MyIdea App," the company said in a statement.

The #RechargeforGood initiative went live on April 9, 2020, for Vodafone customers and on April 10 for Idea customers. The offer for both is available until April 30, 2020.

This is a good initiative from the telecom provider as there are many that work on prepaid numbers and need to visit a physical store to recharge once the validity or data on the number has expired. With the lockdown situation, it is difficult for many to find a physical store where they can recharge their numbers. Providers like Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone have tied up with bans to ensure users can recharge their numbers via an ATM as, during the lockdown, ATM services are still functional.

If you are looking to recharge someone else's number,  that is not a Vodafone Idea number, then know that you can do so using third-party apps like PayTM, Google Pay, banking apps and many more, each offering their own perks for recharging using the respective service.

During this time of lockdown, a lot of network service providers are offering more data and validity with their plans. If you are looking at data packs, you can check out our comparison of Vodafone vs Airtel vs Jio here. BSNL has launched its Rs 693 and Rs 1,212 prepaid plans with up to 500GB data and 365 days validity. You can read more about it here.
