How Vi’s spam SMS solution works
The new system consistently scans incoming messages using AI algorithms to detect potential threats like phishing links and even identify message patterns, sender details, and suspicious phrases. After it spots the spam messages, it marks them as Suspected Spam, offering instant alerts to users to avoid malicious content. As per the company’s statement, it will use machine learning to adapt to emerging spam trends.
Jagbir Singh, CTO of Vodafone Idea Limited stated, “As more customers embrace digital communication, we recognize the growing threat posed by SMS-based spams and potential scam attempts. Our AI-powered spam detection technology reinforces our commitment to customer safety by delivering proactive, real-time protection. Vi is focused on staying ahead of these threats and empowering customers with information to make their mobile experience safer.”
What are the benefits
The new system offers enhanced safety, and seamless integration to protect the users from fraud. Not only that, the company is also expanding its efforts to fight spam calls. It is working on new measures to detect and block fraud voice calls.
The company has also implemented new user-friendly features like automatic spam complaint filing through its mobile app, which picks up spam content, sender numbers, and dates. It also uses the complaint data to refine the Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC) detection system, further preventing abuse.
