Reliance Jio scraps Rs 49 JioPhone prepaid recharge, plans now start at Rs 75
Reliance Jio removes Rs 49 prepaid recharge for JioPhone.
The option is no longer listed on ṭhe company’s website or the MyJio app.
Now, the base recharge option for JioPhone starts at Rs 75.
There’s a lot going on in the telecom industry right now. The three major telcos, Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea recently announced new prepaid plans with increased tariff prices and introduced an FUP on voice calling as well. However, the latter two companies then revised and removed voice calling capping from all of its new plans. Now, Reliance Jio has removed the base recharge plan for JioPhone users, which was priced at Rs 49. While the telco has not released a statement for the move, it can be speculated that the plan was no longer viable for the company.
The now-scrapped Rs 49 JioPhone recharge offered 1GB 4G data, 50 SMSes and unlimited Jio-to-Jio voice calling for 28 days. From now on, JioPhone users will have to opt for the Rs 75 prepaid recharge or higher plans. Jio introduced the Rs 75 prepaid option for JioPhone users back in October this year and it comes with 3GB data and 28-day validity. However, one gets to use merely 0.1GB or 100MB of high-speed data per day, after which their speeds will be down to 64Kbps. The option also offers 500 minutes of calling users on other networks and unlimited Jio-to-Jio calling. It comes with a total of 50SMS.
Speaking of Jio’s All-In-One plans for JioPhone users, the company also introduced three additional plans alongside the Rs 75 pack. There’s one option priced at Rs 125, while the other two are priced at Rs 155 and Rs 185. All three plans come with 500 FUP call minutes and a 28-day validity. However, the Rs 125 prepaid option credits 0.5GB high-speed data per day and 300SMS, while the Rs 155 option comes with 1GB daily data with 100 SMS per day. Finally, the Rs 185 option comes with 2GB data per day, along with 100 daily SMS.
