Reliance Jio has announced a new low-cost plan exclusively for JioPhone users on the occasion of Republic Day. The telecom operator has announced a new Rs 49 plan for the JioPhone that offers free voice calls, unlimited data (1GB high speed data), and a validity of 28 days. Besides this, Jio is also introducing affordable data add-ons at Rs 11, Rs 21, Rs 51 and Rs 101.
“Tariffs charged for feature phone users continue to be exorbitant, while their smartphone counterparts on Jio enjoyed free voice calls and High Speed Data at the most affordable tariffs. The high feature phone tariffs make it impossible for them to even think of using data, let alone avail advanced data services like video calling, mobile video and mobile applications. Jio has made data affordable for everyone,” the company said in a press statement.
This comes just hours after the company announced that it was updating its prepaid plans for smartphone users. The the company’s plans will now offer an additional 500MB of daily data. Under the new offer, plans that offered 1GB of data per day will now offer 1.2GB of day and plans that offered 1.5GB of daya will now offer 2GB of data daily. These plans are only valid for Prime members and will be valid from January 26 onwards. Besides this, the company also announced a new Rs 98 plan that offers 2GB of data, unlimited free calling and a validity of 28 days.
