Telecom operators in India keep coming up with new recharge plans and schemes to keep existing users happy and add new users. Soon after the revelation of Reliance Jio becoming the top telecom operator in India in terms of subscriber numbers, Airtel has announced a new recharge plan that might attract new users. The new prepaid plan is priced at Rs 179 and it comes with a built-in life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh. This new prepaid offering by the telco is a bundled plan that comes with data and voice benefits, along with SMS and as mentioned, a life insurance cover.
Under the Airtel Rs 179 prepaid recharge, users will be credited with 2GB data for the 28 day validity period. There’s also unlimited calling to any network, along with 300SMS and a term life cover of Rs 2 lakh from Bharti AXA Life Insurance. The recharge plan also comes with Wynk Music for unlimited free music downloads and enables access to the Airtel Xstream app.
“The pack is designed to serve entry-level smartphone users and feature phone users in semi-urban and rural markets. It will give these customers a simple and highly convenient channel to secure themselves and their families financially every time they recharge their Airtel mobile numbers,” says Airtel.
It should be noted that in order to be eligible for the term insurance, Airtel users are required to recharge with the same prepaid option every month. Users aged between 18 and 54 are eligible for the insurance cover and in addition, no paperwork or medical test is required. As per the telco, the insurance policy or the Certificate of Insurance will be sent digitally and a physical copy can be provided on request.
