Jio has reworked its Rs 149 plan. The plan now brings with it 24 days validity instead of 28 days and 36GB of data instead of 42GB data (1.5GB data per day). The recharge also brings with it 100 SMSes every day. Users also get a complimentary subscription to Jio’s Apps. The reason for the reduction in validity and data is to leverage Interconnection Usage Charge (IUC). Apart from the Rs 149 plan, Jio has also announced Rs 222, Rs 333 and Rs 444 plans which bring with it 2GB data per day with a validity of one, two and three months respectively.
Besides the data, these recharges bring with them unlimited free calls to other users on Jio’s network. Calls to non-Jio networks will be limited to a FUP of 1,000 minutes. This means that the recharge includes the charges for 1000 minutes of calling to a non-Jio Network. Users can use the Rs 10 top-up to make calls to non-Jio Networks after the FUP limit is reached. The Rs 10 top-up will give users 1GB of data as well. One thing to note with Jio’s new plans is the ability to extend any of the three existing plans by a month by paying Rs 111. So, as an example, if you have opted for the Rs 333 plan, you can pay an additional Rs 111 to extend the benefits for an additional month.
