Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani had announced the JioGigaFiber service last year at the company's annual general meeting. The registrations started on August 15 last year.

The company has already announced that the service would be made available simultaneously in 1100 cities across India, but it recently updated the number of cities to 1600. In the areas where the Jio GigaFiber service is already present, the company offers 100GB free data at 100Mbps speeds for a month. Further, it is also being reported that the company will offer a new 50Mbps broadband annual plan for Rs 2,500.

A report said that this particular plan will have limited benefits when compared to the Rs 4,500 plan. Reportedly, the router bundled with this plan is said to support single band channel only and will offer lower speeds of 50Mbps instead of 100Mbps. In a previous report, it was said that the company is looking to offer a combo service consisting of fiber, landline and TV services for Rs 600 per month.

“While the triple combo—which will offer 600 channels with seven-day catch-up option, landline and 100 Mbps broadband—will be priced Rs 600 a month, the tariff for adding other smart home services may cost extra and depending on the plan, the tariff could go up to Rs 1,000 a month,” the person with the knowledge of the development was quoted as saying.
