Jio brings new Rs 198 Unlimited 5G Data plan with only 14 days of validity: Is it worth it?
HIGHLIGHTS

This is the most affordable option from Jio that offers unlimited 5G data.

With this plan, users get 2 GB of 5G data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day.

But the short validity period is sort of a bummer.

Jio is one of the leading telecom companies in the country. And one strategy that keeps it ahead in the game is that it continues to offer affordable plans to consumers. However, the recent price hike wasn’t taken too well. Now, the company has unveiled a new recharge plan that costs Rs 198.

This is the most affordable option from Jio that offers unlimited 5G data. With this plan, users get 2 GB of 5G data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day. This plan is valid for 14 days. In addition to the basics, users also get access to JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud.

Is Jio’s new Rs 198 Unlimited 5G Plan worth it?

This plan is being marketed as a more cost-effective way of getting unlimited 5G access. But the short validity period is sort of a bummer. So if a customer goes for this recharge twice a month, it would cost them almost Rs 400. It is then better to go for Jio’s Rs 349 plan which provides 2 GB of 4G data per day and unlimited 5G access for 28 days. This way it will be cheaper.

However, if you wish to get the Rs 198 recharge plan, then you can do so by going to the MyJio app and various prepaid recharge platforms. Here’s a gentle reminder: platforms like GooglePay, Paytm, and PhonePe may charge an additional convenience fee ranging from Rs 1 to 3, whereas the MyJio app does not impose such fees.

The unlimited 5G plan from Airtel costs Rs 379 but then it’s valid for 30 days and you get a similar daily data allowance and 5G access. While Airtel’s plan is slightly more expensive, it offers a full month of service.
