Airtel Payments Bank is down for many users across India and people have been facing issues for a couple of days now. Thousands of users have been facing issues and have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their concerns. Customers shared that they have been unable to make payments, transfer money, or even access their accounts. Many have complained about unresponsive customer service, leaving them in the dark about when the issue will be resolved.
Many users said that the portal shows that the server is down due to “maintenance issues”. The disruption has caused major inconvenience, especially for those who rely on Airtel Payments Bank for essential transactions such as bill payments, mobile recharges, and daily purchases.
A user on X said, “Airtel Payments Bank has been down for 24+ hours with no UPI, net banking, or transactions working! No prior notice, no updates, no support. This is a violation of RBI’s uptime norms—when will this be fixed?” Another one said, “Airtel Payments Bank’s server is down—yet another reminder of their unreliable services. How can a banking platform be this careless with basic infrastructure? People’s money is at stake, and they can’t even ensure uptime. Do better, @airtelbank!”
Another tweet read, “what is happening since last 3-4 days unable to make payments its emergency to make payments please solve the issue immediately”. Replying to the furious tweet, a spokesperson from Airtel Payments Bank said, “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. Our team is working to fix the issue as soon as possible. However, it is taking longer than expected we request your patience.”
Airtel has acknowledged the issue and says that the company is working towards fixing it, However, an exact timeline has not been shared yet. We will keep you posted if there are any other updates on the same.
