BSNL has launched 4G services at select locations in Kerala. As of now, five locations in the high range Idukki district will be able to avail high-speed 4G data services and the company will soon expand its 4G services to other regions of Kerala. As per a report by TelecomTalk, BSNL's 4G services are based on the existing spectrum. This allows users to also avail high-speed 4G services while using their existing 3G enabled SIM cards.
As per the report, BSNL’s CGM, P. T Mathew said that the state run telecom operator is already working on expanding the new 4G services to Kerala’s other districts by the end of this year. A Twitter user has also posted speed test results of the new BSNL 4G network and as it can be seen in the image, the network is able to reach download speeds of about 25.20 Mbps and upload speed of 5.36 Mbps.

At the event, BSNL also launched a new Home plan priced at Rs 67. Under the new plan, subscribers will be able to make unlimited local and STD calls to one BSNL landline connection in Kerala. Additionally, the telecom operator has also partnered with T-mobile to offer international roaming services in the U.S and with N-Cell telecom to offer roaming services in Nepal. It’s not known yet whether BSNL will roll out its 4G services to other states.
BSNL recently commenced Aadhaar SIM re-verification via its web portal for senior citizens, NRIs, and physically challenged customers. This option facilitates them to link their 12-digit Aadhaar cards with their mobile connections without visiting a BSNL store.
