Taking the tariff war in the Indian market a level up, Airtel has revamped its Rs 99 plan to offer 2GB of 4G data for a 28-day validity period to match Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 pack that offers the same amount of data for the same period. Besides the data, Airtel is also providing unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day for a period of 28 days. By comparison, Jio’s Rs 98 prepaid plan offers unlimited calling but a total of only 300es SMS for 28 days.
According to TelecomTalk, these benefits have been rolled out to only a few users. The Airtel Rs 99 pack only offers 4G data without any unlimited data with reduced speed. Also, with 100 SMSes per day, these select users will have 2,800 text messages stock for 28 days — 2,500 more that what Jio is offereing.
Airtel recently revamped its Rs 149 plan to offer 2GB of data per day in select circles, an increase from the 1GB data previously offered by the plan. Besides the data, other benefits offered by the plan include unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days. By comparison, Jio’s Rs 149 prepaid plan offers 1.5GB of data per day.
A couple of months back, Airtel announced a new offer for its existing customers. The company offered 30GB of free data to users who upgrade from a 2G/3G device to a 4G smartphone. Users would get 1GB data per day for 30 days, which will be applicable over and above any existing plans the users might be currently on. The company notes that the 30GB free data will be credited to the user’s account 24 hours.
Last month, Airtel announced that those who subscribed to its unlimited prepaid plans get finally get to enjoy ‘truly unlimited’ mobile internet.
