If you are a selenophile, a person who loves the moon, then this is your last chance to experience the final supermoon of this year, the Beaver Moon. This celestial event occurs when the moon reaches the closest point to Earth and this weekend it is going to dazzle in the sky. Beaver Moon, named by Native American tribes, signifies the time when beavers begin their winter preparations. It’s also denoted as the Frost Moon or Snow Moon as it marks the onset of cold weather.
The Beaver Moon can be seen in India at 02:58 AM on Saturday, 16 November 2024. If you are interested in experiencing the best view, you can look towards the eastern horizon just after the sunset. A visual phenomenon known as “moon illusion” will make the moon appear larger near the horizon. You can even experience the Pleiades star cluster (the Seven Sisters), which can be seen near the moon. This cluster will be positioned below the moon on Friday and will shift to the upper right of the moon by Saturday.
