Canva, the popular platform known for making design easy, has just launched its new Canva Connect APIs. These new APIs will help businesses by allowing them to integrate Canva directly into the tools they already use. This means teams can work on designs together without having to constantly switch between different apps.
Making Team Collaboration Easier
At Canva Create 2024, the company made several major announcements including these new Connect APIs which are a part of Canva’s ongoing mission to make design more accessible for everyone. With these APIs, businesses can seamlessly integrate Canva into their existing platforms. Imagine working on a Canva design directly from Slack or Discord or pulling in data from Salesforce without leaving Canva. These kinds of integrations can save a lot of time and make collaboration much smoother. The alternative would be to work on one app and export the product before importing it into another tool. And should you have to rework it, then it becomes a tad tedious. Canva has had a Teams functionality which allowed for creative workflows to be integrated into Canva itself so today’s announcement is an extension of that feature allowing third-party platforms to integrate Canva workflows.
Tools for Developers and Summer Hackathon
Canva is also offering new resources for developers, including APIs for editing images, videos, and text. They’re launching an AI app starter kit and a new Partner Program, which will help developers design, discover, and monetise their apps. They’re also hosting their first-ever Summer Hackathon from June 18 to August 20, offering US $50,000 in investments for developers who create innovative solutions using these new APIs.
Canva has recently teamed up with big names like Amazon Ads, Meta, and Google. These partnerships have led to new apps that make it easier to design and publish ad content directly within Canva. This is very convenient for users who want to create high-performing ad creatives without having to juggle multiple platforms.
Growing the App Marketplace
Canva’s developer programme, including the Canva Apps SDK, is now open to all developers. This SDK allows developers to quickly build or integrate their apps into Canva. They can use these APIs to fetch data, add content, edit designs, authenticate users, and more, making it easy to create a variety of apps.
Canva has previously announced a commitment of US $50 million to a Developers Innovation Fund to support app developers, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. This fund aims to bring more innovative solutions to the Canva platform and help developers grow their apps.
