Yu Yuphoria, YuFit launched at Rs. 6999, Rs. 999 respectively

Micromax's next gen Yu smartphone, Yuphoria, has officially launched in India.

Micromax has officially launched its next gen Yu Yuphoria smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 6999, the smartphone will be available on Amazon, registration begins 5pm today. Micromax has also launched a new fitness band called the YuFit.

The Yu Yuphoria, successor to the Yu Yureka, has a 5-inch 720p display (TFT IPS, 16.7M Color, 294 PPI) with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone boasts of metal body and symmetrical design. The Yuphoria is thin at 8.25mm & weighs 143 gm with battery & a screen to TP ratio of over 75%. The phone has been made in India.(Read: Yu Yuphoria First Impression)

The smartphone comes with a  Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz 64-bit SoC along with 2GB of RAM. It sports an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera with  f/2.0 86-degree wide-angle lens. It has 16GB of built-in memory. The phone will run Android Lollipop customized by Cyanogen OS 12 including an App Themer that lets you customise each app. It comes with dialer powered by TrueCaller, email powered by Boxer and audio FX. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support. It is powered by a 2230mAh battery.

The Yu Yuphoria competes with the Samsung A3 and HTC Desire 620. As said above, the YU Yuphoria is successor to the Yu Yureka, which featured CyanogenMod and 5.5 inch display. Its strategy has been very similar to Xiaomi, which has also been offering high spec'd phones at attractive prices.

Micromax has also launched a new fitness band called YuFit. It features OLED display. The band will support track steps, calories, sleep and notifications for incoming calls and messages. The band is optimised/integerated with HealthifyMe, which Micromax recently acquired. Micromax has announced free personal trainer for the first 1000 users. The company also announced a new health-focussed connected device, HealthYU, which can monitor several parameters like ecg, BP, temperature, respiration and much more. The device is priced at Rs. 4,999.
