Micromax’s YU teases Project Caesar phone, takes a dig at Redmi 2

The Yu brand's Project Caesar smartphone may have 2GB of RAM, 16 GB ROM and Android 5.0 based CyanogenMod OS.

Micromax announced Yu's Project Caesar earlier this month and now the company has sent out teasers with the smartphone's specifications. The teaser states, "Read Mi lips..the Future is Yu" taking a dig at competitor Xiaomi's Redmi 2. The Project Ceasar smartphone boasts better specifications than that device, including 16 GB ROM and 2 GB RAM.

The text in the new poster is accompanied by images of the chipset and memory module. In addition, the ‘M’ in the text is a clear potshot at Xiaomi's logo. The specs mentioned in the picture, make the Mi Phone in question the Xiaomi Redmi 2, which has 8GB of internal memory and a 64-bit SoC accompanied by 1GB of RAM.

The other side of the image says “the future is Yu”, indicating that the Yu Project Caesar phone will have a 64-bit processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, definitely a step up from the specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 smartphone. Apart from this no other specifications have been mentioned.

The company had announced Project Caesar as the next Yu smartphone earlier this month. The device will be unveiled in April and will run an Android 5.0-based version of CyanogenMod. Since the announcement, Micromax has been issuing some teasers about the device. The company's previous teaser had said that the new Yu phone will run on Cyanogen OS 12, which is based on Android Lollipop at launch, while the Redmi 2 still runs on the outdated Android KitKat OS, layered with Xiaomi's MiUI 6. The next Yu smartphone is expected to be priced at Rs 6,500.
