YouTube Player API for Android released; watch videos within your apps itself
You no longer have to leave your app which has a YouTube clip embedded in it
YouTube announced its native YouTube Player API for Android in a blog post allowing developers to integrate YouTube clips within their apps itself. What this essentially means is that you will not have leave the app if it has a YouTube video embedded in it, to view the video. This API was announced at the Google I/O 2012 but has been made available to developers since the last couple of days.
This API supports video playback from within the apps on devices with Android 2.2 (FroYo) and newer versions; you can view the video from the app itself, no webview required; it suppors full-screen and orientation change support and it supports YouTube ads.
YouTube has been working with some partners including Flipboard, Buzzfeed, SoundTracking, 9×9.tv and Fitness Flow.
