HIGHLIGHTS

Motorola has announced a launch event for July 28, and it is going to make it available via webcast also.

When you’re done watching the OnePlus 2 launch in VR or otherwise tomorrow, here’s some more material to watch. Motorola is going to have a live webcast of its launch event to be held in New Delhi. You’ll find the link for the same at the bottom of this article. The company is expected to launch the third generation versions of its Moto G and Moto X smartphones globally, with simultaneous events in both India and abroad.

According to rumours, the new version of the Moto G may come in two variants, with one running on the Snapdragon 410 SoC, while the other runs the Snapdragon 615 version. The phone is also expected to have a 13MP rear camera, along with a 5MP front camera. Rumours also say that the phone will have a 2300 mAh battery. Perhaps most importantly though, the Moto G is expected to be water resistant, with a IPX7 certifications.

The water resistance also extends to the 2015 version of the Moto X smartphone, which will be Motorola’s flagship for the year. The third generation of the Moto X is expected to have a 2K display, along with a fingerprint scanner. It is rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor and 4GB RAM, while also having a 21MP rear camera, up from the 13MP on the current generation of the Moto X.

Motorola’s smartphones, which were once known for being the most value for money devices in the market, have been overrun by smartphones from company’s like Xiaomi, Micromax, Lenovo and other Chinese players. This makes the upcoming generation of the Moto G and Moto X all the more important, since Motorola will look to get back its market share.

Motorola’s main focus should be the price of its upcoming devices. The company has always maintained that its focus is on the overall consumer experience, with initiatives to improve its customer support, while offering a decent specs to price value. Earlier Motorola had announced its Moto Vans, which will serve as a mobile service center for customers, while also adding new service outlets into its arsenal. All that though hasn’t helped as much as it should have, with Xiaomi and others offering far more value for money smartphones.
