Xiaomi's new flagship smartphone with dual camera setup is expected to be an Android One device. The smartphone is expected to sport dual cameras similar to the company's flagship Mi 6. The new device will be Flipkart exclusive.

Xiaomi is all set to announce the launch of a new series of flagship smartphone with dual cameras at an event in New Delhi today. The launch is scheduled to begin at 12 noon and the company is broadcasting the launch live on its YouTube channel. The new flagship dual camera smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

While initial reports hinted at the launch of the Mi 5X, a source code on Flipkart's teaser page hints at the handset being named Mi A1. The Mi A1 is expected to be the Android One version of the company's Mi 5X smartphone launched recently in China. The handset has already stopped by GeekBench benchmarking platform. It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and run Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

The Mi A1 is expected to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display and pack dual 12MP rear cameras with one wide-angle lens and another telephoto lens similar to the company's flagship Mi 6. The dual cameras are likely to support 2x optical zoom and support features like portrait mode. The phone is also expected to support a 5MP selfie camera with support for 1080p video recording.

The Mi A1 could sport a design similar to other Mi series handsets from the company and could house a 3080mAh battery. The Mi 5X is priced at 1,499 Yuan (around Rs 15,000) in China and the new Mi A1 could be priced at similar price range. Xiaomi is already the leader in the budget and mid-range price segment and if it ditches MIUI in favour of stock Android then the company could have the most competent device yet in this price range.
