Xiaomi is making an expensive phone, which could be the Mi Note 2

Xiaomi phones are better known for their low prices and high specification combination, but that might change. According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi’s co-founder Liwan Jiang revealed that the company might be bringing a higher end phone in the market, which could cost around 4000 Yuan (Rs. 40,415 approximately). Rumours suggest that this phone might be the second iteration of the Mi Note and might be called Mi Note 2. Xiaomi is likely to announce the Mi Note 2 at IFA this year in September. The company also shared a teaser for the same on Weibo

According to rumours surrounding the Mi Note 2, it might have dual curved screen display and all the latest flagship class specifications, inclding 4GB of RAM. Liwan Jiang also said that the phone might be costly but it will feature better quality than other phones available in the same price range. No further details about the phone were revealed. However, the higher price tag and premium features indicate that the company might be expanding further to more global markets including the US.

Currently, the most expensive Xiaomi smartphone available in India is Mi 5. The Mi 5 which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, features a 3GB RAM and is offered with 32GB of storage. The phone is available via all major e-retailers for Rs. 24,999. On the contrary, the most popular smartphone from Xiaomi is the Redmi Note 3, which lies in the budget segment.
