Xiaomi is planning to announce new product(s) at the end of the month, March 31 to celebrate its five year anniversary. The Chinese handset maker has already widely expanded its product range to include smartphones, Android TV boxes, headphones, battery packs and fitness tracker.
Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun, has announced that Xiaomi will be launching new devices this year. The company states on its blog, "With all your support and company over the years, Xiaomi is turning 5 next month. We have prepared big surprises for Mi fans who have loved Xiaomi all the way."
According to rumors, Xiaomi may launch it first smartwatch, called the Mi Watch at the event. The watch is expected to be a budget Apple Watch killer, with a brushed metal design and a circular dial. The wearable will also include the ability to monitor blood pressure via pulse wave velocity recognition.
Leaks about a new mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi codenamed Ferrari have also been making the rounds for a while now. The device will feature a 4.9-inch full-HD display and will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will have a 12MP rear camera and 4.8 MP front shooter. The device will run a newer version of MIUI based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Apart from this Xiaomi is also gearing up to launch a budget $ 65 device as well.
Xiaomi has already announced its flagship device this year the Mi Note and a higher-end version with a 2K screen, the Mi Note Pro. The company has also announced the entry-level Redmi 2, along with the Mi Pad tablet and 40 inch LED Mi TV. The Redmi 2 and Mi Pad are now available for sale in India for Rs 6,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively.
