Redmi has been teasing the launch of its new flagship phone in China since some time now. The company’s GM, Liu Weibing also recently confirmed that the upcoming device will be called the Redmi K20. Now, Redmi India and the Global VP of Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain, have taken a jibe at OnePlus’ latest flagship OnePlus 7 Pro by teasing its upcoming ‘Flagship Killer 2.0’ smartphone. While neither the company nor Jain has confirmed which is their next device in the country, the image posted by them on Twitter hints at the launch of the Redmi K20 in India.
As one can observe in the image below, Xiaomi has teased the launch of its Flagship Killer 2.0. One might also notice that the ‘K’, ‘2’ and ‘0’ have been highlighted and surprise surprise, they form the word K20. Additionally, some of our eagle eyed readers might have noticed that ‘855’ is written inside the highlighted ‘K’, which seems to be another nod at the Snapdragon 855 powered Redmi K20 smartphone. We recently came across a report that suggested that there would be two Redmi K20 handsets, the Redmi K20 and the K20 Pro, and one of these could launch as the Poco F2 in India.
Going by trends, there’s a chance that the Redmi K20 might be rebranded and launched as the Poco F2 in India. OnePlus launched its OnePlus 6 (review) smartphone in May 2018 in India and Xiaomi followed suit with its Poco F1 smartphone, which offered similar hardware at almost half the price. The company could pull off the same trick again to introduce the alleged Poco F2, which, same as the OnePlus 7 and the 7 Pro, could be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC.
As for the upcoming Redmi K20 Pro, some features of the smartphone have already been outed by the company. It is said to be a gaming-centric device, which would feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and come equipped with a ‘large’ battery. The flagship device is reported to come equipped with a 6.39-inche Full HD+ display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is also being teased to feature a pop-up front camera and is rumoured to sport a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide and a 16MP telephoto camera.
