Xiaomi’s new budget devices, the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite, will be available for sale at 12PM today. The Redmi Y1 is a selfie-centric device and the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant will be available for Rs 10,999, while the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant will be available for Rs 8,999. The Redmi Y1 Lite is a affordable version of the phone with lower specifications, and will be available at Rs 6,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 sports a 16MP front facing camera with a selfie flash. The device sports a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC. The phone is equipped with a 3080mAh battery and runs MIUI 9. At the back of the device is a 13MP camera. The phone offers support for dual SIMs and also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.
As mentioned before, Redmi Y1 Lite is a more affordable version of the standard Redmi Y1. Instead of a 16MP front facing camera, the Y1 Lite comes with a 5MP front facing camera. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC with 2GB of RAM, and offers 16GB of internal storage. However, you do get the same 5.5-inch HD screen and a 3080mAh battery. Further, the Redmi Y1 Lite also comes with a 13MP rear camera and runs MIUI 9.
The Redmi Y1 series isn’t the only sub-10K offering from Xiaomi. The company also offers the Redmi 4 as well as the new Redmi 5A in the same price bracket. The Redmi 4 starts at Rs 6,999, while the Redmi 5A starts at Rs 4,999. You can check out our comparison between the three phones here.
