Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A specifications leak, could be announced alongside Redmi Note 5 this month

Xiaomi is expected to announce the Redmi Note 5A, the cheaper variant of Redmi Note 5 later this month in China. Ahead of the official announcement, the handset has leaked once again revealing additional details about the device. The smartphone leaked in the form of retail packaging last month revealing a 5.5-inch display and dual rear camera setup.

The new leak indicates that the Redmi Note 5A will be powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The smartphone houses a 3080mAh battery and will run Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9. It is also said to feature a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Redmi Note 5A seems like a budget handset that differs from the Redmi Note 5 primarily in terms of performance and battery life.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, successor to the Redmi Note 4 is likely to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display and use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 630 platform. The Redmi Note 5 could arrive in two storage variants – 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM variant with an option for either 32GB or 64GB storage. Other features include a 16MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera. The Redmi Note 5 will switch to USB Type-C port and also support Bluetooth 5.0 standard. It is expected to retail at 1,200 Yuan (around Rs 12,000) while the Redmi Note 5A could become available for 1,000 Yuan (around Rs 10,000).
