The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has finally gone up for sale on Flipkart. The device had been announced next to its 3G version earlier this month. Xiaomi though had been banned from selling MediaTek-powered smartphones in India, a few days after the first sale of the Redmi Note 3G. The company though is allowed to sell its Qualcomm Snapdragon powered smartphones till February 5. The 4G version of this smartphone is pretty much the same as the 3G version (read Redmi Note review), except the fact that it can support up to 64GB of expandable storage and 4G capabilities, alongside the Snapdragon 400 SoC. It will go on sale on December 30 through Xiaomi's trademark flash sale model.
The Chinese upstart had earlier run into a hurdle, following a patent infringement case filed by Ericcson against them. Company India Head, Manu Jain though explained that Xiaomi was able to demonstrate to the court that it had the required licenses, through its licensing agreement with Qualcomm. This is the reason why it was allowed to sell its other devices in the country. Xiaomi also completed its first post lawsuit sale of the Redmi 1S on Flipkart today. According to Jain, there will be 40,000 to 50,000 units of the Redmi Note 4G up for grabs on December 30.
Manu Jain also mentioned that the lawsuit hasn't been an impediment to the company's plans in India, saying that whatever they had planned will continue. Jain noted in particular that the Redmi Note 4G was always supposed to start selling from December 30.
