Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 may not have a Snapdragon-powered variant
According to analyst Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi will stick with the MediaTek Helio X20 SoC and not launch a Snapdragon variant
The recently launched Redmi Note 4 might not have a Snapdragon-powered variant. According to analyst Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi will be stick with the MediaTek Processor on the smartphone and will not launch a Snapdragon powered variant. If this is true, the Xiaomi may not be able to launch the device in India due to a dispute with Ericsson regarding patent infringement on its MediaTek-powered devices. Due to this dispute, Xiaomi cannot sell MediaTek-powered devices in India.
The Redmi Note 4 is powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC and it was speculated that the company may unveiled another variant powered by a Qualcomm processor, possibly the Snapdragon 652. Other specifications of the phone includes a 5.5-inch FHD display and a 13MP primary camera. The phone also features a 4100mAh battery and is available in 16GB and 64GB storage variants.
To recall, the Redmi Note 3 was initially powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC when it was first unveiled in November last year. However, the company later unveiled a Snapdragon 650-powered variant of the phone, which was launched in India earlier this year. According to a report by AnTuTu, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was the most popular smartphone in India for the first half of the year.
