Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 now receiving MIUI 9 update
The update is based on Android Marshmallow and is being rolled out in a phased manner.
Xiaomi has started seeding the MIUI 9.2 update to its Redmi Note 3 smartphone. It should be noted that the device currently runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the new update is based on the same Android version but updates the device with a plethora of new MIUI features. The update was announced on the company’s official forum and it adds that it may take between 48 hours to 72 hours to receive the update.
The new update reportedly weighs about 290MB in size and as per the changelogs posted by a user, it will overhaul the smartphone’s UI and comes with MIUI version 9.2.4.0. It also updates the device to the latest January security patch and brings an updated Mi Drop app which fixes some issues and optimises the app. The new patch comes with a new Security Scan app which can scan for viruses and also supports a payments scan feature.
The Mi Mover app has also improved and comes with support for restarting data migration in case the connection is interrupted. There are a number of new UI updates like a redesigned homepage and a new option for searching apps in the Dual apps settings. The gallery app also gets a design overhaul along with an issue fix where an image was being compressed multiple times.
