A new Xiaomi smartphone has been spotted on TENAA, which is speculated to be the upcoming Redmi 6 Plus/Pro. Going by the TENAA listing and the images posted on the Chinese regulatory website, the company might follow the trend and incorporate a notch on the top of the device’s display. The images also tip at a vertically stacked dual-rear camera setup on Redmi 6 Plus, along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, same as the Redmi 5 Plus. In fact, the leaked images of the Redmi smartphone, codenamed M1805D1SE, show that it is almost the same in terms of design, except for the ‘notch’ display and what seems like dual front-facing cameras.
The listing reveals that the smartphone could feature a 5.84-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and a taller 19:9 display aspect ratio, which is becoming a norm now for smartphones that come with a notch on top. It is also expected to come with a dual 12MP + 5MP main camera setup and is listed to feature an unknown octa-core CPU clocked at 2 GHz, which hints at either the Snapdragon 625 or the newer Helio P60 SoC. Three variants of the device have been listed online with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM coupled with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage respectively. The device could be backed by a 4000 mAh battery and is expected to be launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo, with the upcoming MIUI 10 on top. The device could come in Black, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray, and Silver colour variants.
As mentioned above, the company is expected to unveil MIUI 10 at their 8th-anniversary event in China. Alongside MIUI 10, the company will also launch its latest flagship Mi 8 smartphone, the Mi Band 3 and could also unveil some other devices. The Mi 8 is expected to be a thin-bezel device that comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner and a notch on top, however, a recent teaser of the company hinted that there might not be a notch on the device at all. Whatever may be the case, we have to wait till the device is officially announced. As for the Mi Band 3, it will reportedly feature a large 2.5D full-touch curved display without any physical buttons. It is tipped to feature options for checking your steps, heart rate and the time.
