Xiaomi has launched a new Rose Gold colour model of its entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 5A. It will add to the existing Gold and Grey colour variants of the device and is priced the same at Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB ROM model and the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM variant, respectively. It will be exclusively available via Flipkart and Mi.com starting 12 PM.
Flipkart is also offering some deals for customers buying the smartphone. Customers will receive an additional 5 percent discount by purchasing the device using an Axis Bank Buzz credit card. Purchasing from Mi.com, buyers can also get Mi Protect priced at Rs 499 for covering their device against accidental and liquid damage.
Jio is also offering a Rs 1,000 cashback on the handset for new and existing subscribers. However, they need to perform 13 consecutive recharges of Rs 198 on their Jio connection every month and the cashback will be credited in their MyJio account in the form of 10 Jio vouchers (each worth Rs 100), which can be redeemed one at a time while recharging with plans priced at Rs 309 and above or on data add-ons priced at Rs 201 and above via MyJio app only.
Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A is powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 platform clocked at 1.4 GHz and sports a 5-inch HD display. Backed by a 3000mAh battery, it boasts of up to 8 days of standby time and up to 7 hours of video playback. It supports expandable storage of up to 128GB via a microSD card and has a separate third slot for it.
The smartphone features a 13MP primary camera, which is supplemented with an LED flash and supports Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). It comes with a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The dual-SIM device runs on MIUI9 layered on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. In terms of connectivity, the handset supports Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, 4G LTE and a micro-USB port for charging.
