Xiaomi has started rolling out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based on MIUI 9.2 for its Redmi 4A smartphone. As per the company's official forum, the new update has started rolling out to users and being a phased rollout, one might need to wait for 48-72 hrs before the update is shown up on their device. It should be noted that this is a nightly update and as per the forum, it’s being rolled out to “random users” and the stable ROM is also expected to follow soon.
The new update weighs around 1.3GB in size and comes with the serial number MIUI 9.2.6.0.NCCMIEK. It also updates the Redmi 4A with the January 2018 security patch and fixes the KRACK WPA2 Wi-Fi security vulnerability. The device will also get some new MIUI 9 based features and UI updates like a new Gallery app, Calendar Cards, App Vault, new system animations, Split Screen feature, Quick Switch, new Mi Explorer, improved notification bar, Mi Video App, Mi Drop and more.
Xiaomi recently announced the MIUI 10 and a recent report leaked the list of devices slated for receiving the new update. The report named 32 devices and you can read more about this here. To recall, Hong Feng, Xiaomi’s Senior Vice President, had announced the MIUI 10 but didn’t reveal many details about its interface or features. It is expected that the new interface will be based upon Android Oreo and as per the report, the new update will be focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
