Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 3S smartphone in China. The device is available in two variants, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage and the other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Both devices will be available for purchase from Xiaomi’s Chinese website from June 16 at CNY 699 (approx. Rs. 7,100) and CNY 899 (approx. Rs. 9,200) respectively.

As the name would suggest, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S is an upgraded variant of the Redmi 3 that was launched in China back in January this year. The new device features the same 5-inch HD display found on its predecessor, but it is now powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC. Further, the new phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back, a feature that was not present in the Redmi 3. The new device also features 13MP and 5MP cameras and is equipped with a 4100mAh battery.

It is not known if and when Xiaomi will launch the device in other markets. The company has not yet launched the Redmi 3 in India, but they did launch the Redmi Note 3 in March. Prices for the phone start at Rs. 9,999 and it offers a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC and offers 16MP and 5MP cameras.
