The successor to the Redmi 1S, rumoured to be named as Redmi 2S, was leaked last week in a few images from TENAA (the Chinese telecom standards body) and now we are hearing some more details about the upcoming smartphone.
The Redmi 2S will measure 134 x 67.2 x 9.2 mm which is slightly more compact than the 1S which has dimensions of 137 x 69 x 9.9 mm and will also be lighter weighing at 134gms. There will be a 4.7-inch 720p display with slimmer bezels, along with capacitive keys at the bottom. Under the hood there will be a Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC with a clock speed of 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There will also be an 8MP rear and 2MP front camera and a slightly larger 2200mAh battery. It will run on Android 4.4.4 with an updated version of MIUI on top.
On the connectivity front, the Redmi 2S will feature LTE radio, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The leaks from TENAA suggest that the smartphone will support a single SIM unlike the Redmi 1S, but there could very well be a dual-SIM version as well. If the handset is priced similar to the 1S, then it is definitely going to be one of the best budget Android devices that one can get.
