Xiaomi Redmi 2 launched in India at Rs. 6,999
Xiaomi launches its Redmi 2 smartphone in India under Rs. 7,000, taking on the likes of the second gen Moto E and wide range of budget Android smartphones.
Xiaomi has launched its Redmi 2 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the phone will be available from Flipkart starting March 24, while registrations begin today at 6pm. The 2GB version of the Redmi 2 will be a limited edition device, which will be available in India later.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 has Snapdragon 410, 64-bit quad-core 1.2GHz Processor, Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 306 GPU. It also has 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The smartphone runs MiUi6 KitKat. It features a 4.7 inch 720p Sharp/AUO fully laminated display. It sports 8MP rear camera and 2MP front facing camera. It comes with a Beautify feature, including 36 filters.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM (both SIM slots support 4G). The phone comes with a smart SIM management tool, allowing you to switch between data networks. You can also rename the slots. EG : Work SIM, Personal SIM. The phone supports USB OTG and Quick Charging (1.0. Charges 20% faster than Redmi 1S).
The Redmi 2 features a textured, matte back cover. It's fingerprint and grease-resistant. The smartphone comes with MEMs noise-cancelling microphones, which is said to be better signal-to-noise ratio than traditional ECM microphones.
It is powered by a 2200 mAh battery.
Motorola just launched the second gen Moto E in India at the same price bracket. However, the Moto E is considered to be an underpowered phone, while Xiaomi has further intensified competition with its high spec'd Redmi 2.
