Xiaomi Pocophone F1 with Snapdragon 845 spotted on Geekbench ahead of August 22 India launch
The listing reaffirms that the Pocophone F1 could launch running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo.
Xiaomi’s new sub-brand ‘Poco’ has already announced that its first smartphone, the Pocophone F1 will be launched in India on August 22. The device has already been revealed in a hands-on video and is speculated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Now, the smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench, which further reaffirms the rumours and reveals that alongside the Snapdragon 845, the smartphone could pack 6GB RAM and might be launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo. Being a Xiaomi sub-brand we expect the device to run MIUI on top of Android Oreo and this was reiterated in the previously leaked video of the Poxophone F1, where it was seen running on MIUI 9.
In single-core tests, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 scores 2467. It scores 9081 in multi-core tests. Previous reports suggest that the device will be liquid cool to keep the temperature under control and mitigate thermal throttling. A sticker on the smartphone’s box indicating the same was also spotted in the previously leaked video. The Geekbench listing doesn’t reveal any other information about the handset. However, reports suggest that the smartphone could come with 6GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage and it could be backed by a 4000mAh battery. The Pocophone F1 is speculated to be one of those devices that brings down the price of flagship devices and we will know more about it when it launches on August 22. Currently the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phone to buy in India is the Asus Zenfone 5z.
As mentioned above, a video by GSM Dome showing off the Pocophone F1 reveals that it might feature a display notch, along with thin side-bezels and a noticeable chin. The phone may get an AI-powered dual rear camera setup and a fingerprint sensor, all in one module. The device’s rear panel features a plastic build and similar to some Nubia handsets, the Pocophone F1’s camera enclosure sports a red accentuation around the edges. The video shows off a headphone jack on the top and a USB Type-C port on the bottom, along with two speaker grilles. As mentioned above, the Pocophone was seen running on MIUI 9, however, the company could soon roll-out the MIUI 10 update for it.
