Xiaomi India Head, Manu Jain, has told PTI that the company has tied up with two more distributors in India

Xiaomi is planning to double its offline presence over the next few months. In an interview with PTI, Xiaomi India Head, Manu Jain said, “For us, online is the dominant channel and we are trying to build a base for offline in India. We had a partnership with Redington last year (for distribution) and four weeks back, tied up with Innocomm and Just Buy Live.” He added that with the two new partners, the company now sells its devices on 5,000 shops and it plans to double this figure in a few months.

PTI’s report also notes that over 90% of the sales of Xiaomi devices are sold via an online channel in India. With the country’s booming smartphone market, it’s no wonder that Xiaomi wants to tap into the offline market and sell its devices to even more people.

Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 3S and 3S Prime in India and for a change, the company opted to sell the device via an open sale instead of a flash sale. Jai said that the company brought significantly higher volumes of the phone that it ever did. He also added that Xiaomi was scaling up its manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh by adding more lines and capacity to the same plant. Once they exhaust it, the company and their partner, Foxconn were planning on adding more factories
