The Xiaomi Mi5 has been leaked, again. According to leaked renders from China, unofficial renders of the design, which are apparently based on the real device. The images show a thin strip like home button, which is supposedly the fingerprint scanner. Reports have said that the Mi5 will sport the fastest and the smallest fingerprint sensor in the world. In addition, the images also show 2.5D glass on top, while the back will reportedly have 3G glass. There will also be an USB-Type C port on the smartphone. When it will be launched though is still unclear.

In addition, earlier reports have stated that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm, along with a 16MP rear camera and a 5.2 inch QHD display. Further, there may also be a 1080p variant of the phone with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, while the QHD version will sport 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. The device will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will sport a 3600 mAh battery.

The rumoured pricing for the Mi5 has been stated at around CNY 1,999 ( approx. Rs. 20,000) for the 3GB/32GB variants, while the company will charge CNY 2,999 (approx. Rs. 30,000) for the 4GB/64GB variant.

The Chinese manufacturer has been rather silent for a while, with its last phone being the new version of the Redmi Note smartphones. Xiaomi also has devices like the Xiaomi Mi4 in India, which hasn’t sold well, thanks to tough competition from competitors OnePlus and Micromax’s Yu brand. While a concrete launch date for the Mi5 isn’t available yet, the company should be launching it sometime soon, in the first half of 2016.
