Xiaomi aims to sell 100,000 smartphones during Diwali season
If you had not been able to buy the Mi3 in the last flash sales, then Xiaomi is planning to give you another chance to grab a new one.
Xiaomi is gearing up for the festive season by bringing back its popular Mi3 smartphone in India. Company VP Hugo Barra reveals Xiaomi aims to sell 100,000 units of Mi3 on sale a week in October. According to Barra, Xiaomi sells about 60,000 units a week via Flipkart.
"For the Diwali month we're chartering planes from Hong Kong to India to bring in Xiaomi Mi 3 and Redmi phones because it's too much product," Barra is quoted as saying.
According to Xiaomi's Manu Jain, the company will be giving priority to customers who have tried to buy the Mi 3 multiple times but have not been able to get one. An increased focus will be on Redmi 1S, as the company plans to offer much higher quantities of the smartphone. Xiaomi has also plans to run some “limited time special offers on few select accessories”.
Just around the launch of the Redmi 1S smartphone in India, Xiaomi temporarily halted sales of the Mi 3, triggering all sorts of speculations about discontinuation of the phone. However, Xiaomi made it clear the Mi3 had not been discontinued and will be back on sale, though did not give a timeframe. In an interview with Digit, Hugo Barro had also hinted at the launch of Redmi Note around the festival season in the country.
Xiaomi has already grabbed wide attention with its high spec'd budget devices as well as the controversial 'flash sales' model. The Chinese company, also dubbed as as China's Apple, is trying to expand its base in a fiercely competitive market dominated by the likes of Samsung, Micromax and Motorola.
